Professionals From All Industries and Over 36 Countries to Attend ASSE's
Professional Development Conference and Exposition
Des Plaines, IL (June 2, 2010) — Safety, health and environmental
professionals from all industries from more than 36 countries are expected to
attend the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) annual Professional
Development Conference and Exposition , “Safety 2010” to be held this year June
13-16 in Baltimore, MD, at the Baltimore Convention Center.
This event provides attendees with one
of the top comprehensive professional development and interactive opportunities
for global safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals. ASSE will
feature more than 200 educational sessions, issue roundtables, programs in
Spanish, an executive track, a fundamentals program and speakers from major
corporations and government organizations such as NASA and the U.S. Department
of Labor. In addition to the many sessions, this year’s PDC will feature the
largest exposition ASSE has ever offered, with over 400 exhibitors. Products
featured at the exhibition will include alarm and signaling devices, auto
safety devices, biological detection, maintenance materials and devices,
computer services, signage, drug testing, education and training aids,
emergency aids, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, and much more.
Keynote speakers for the PDC include:
Andrew Winston, author of the book “The Green Recovery” and co-author of the
best-selling book “Green-to-Gold”; Geoffrey Colvin, author of the book “The
Upside of the Downturn – Management Strategies to Prevail in the Recession and
Thrive in the Aftermath”, and editor at large for FORTUNE Magazine; and,
luncheon keynote speaker Joe Malarkey, presenting “Choose to Lose”, a program
about the opportunities that are hidden in adversity.
This year’s executive summit panel,
open to all attendees, on Wednesday, June 16, at 7:45 a.m. will feature
senior-level management in a discussion on the importance of employee safety
and health, as well as expectations of business and industry leaders on the
role of SH&E professionals. Executives include NASA Chief of Safety and
Mission Assurance Bryan O’Connor, Bill Ermatinger of Northrop Grumman
Shipbuilding, Kathleen Shanahan of WRScompass, Daniel Nobbe of Fiberteq and
Gregory Hale of Disney Parks and Resorts.
